Recent workshops have included Japanese Kurinaki techniques, garlic grater plates, matcha bowls, organic serving platters and more! The possibilities are endless, come with an idea in mind or allow yourself to be inspired in the studio.

Workshop price includes clay, access to tools and equipment, simple glaze and kiln firing. If you would like to explore painting, glazing and surface decoration in greater depth a separate follow up workshop will be available.

A small, focused session where you get real guidance to bring your own sewing project to life. Whether you’re finishing something you started at home, tackling a new idea, or need help figuring out the best approach, you’ll have hands-on support tailored to exactly what you’re making.

Bring your project, your questions, or just a rough idea! You’ll get help working out the details, troubleshooting as you go, and building real confidence with your machine, in a relaxed small-group setting.

Choose your favorite glaze on the day and I will finish your piece for you, ready to collect in 6-8 weeks time. If you would like to explore painting, glazing and surface decoration in greater depth a separate follow up workshop will be available to book.

Price includes clay, use of equipment and tools, and the required two kiln firings to fully finish your pieces. You’ll have the opportunity to choose a glaze on the day and I will finish your pieces for you, ready to be collected in 8-12 weeks.

Alternatively you are welcome to book in sooner into a follow up workshop where you will learn further techniques such as trimming, painting with underglazes and engobes, sgrafitto and other surface decorations, as well as glazing.

Once you are familiar with the studio and processes you may also book into open studio sessions where you can pay by the hour to practice everything you have learned or finish up pieces from previous classes.

Please bring your own apron if you have one. Please note pottery takes time! Pieces need a week or longer to dry completely before being bisque fired and then again before being glaze fired. The whole process takes several weeks. Please get in touch if you need your pieces sooner and we will do our best to accommodate you.

This is a four-week course running on Tuesday mornings from 9:30am to 12:00, with each 2.5-hour session giving you plenty of time to develop your skills across the four weeks.

You’ll be introduced to core handbuilding techniques—pinching, coiling, and slab building—while experimenting with a variety of tools, clay bodies and glazes. You’ll also have the opportunity to try the potter’s wheel, taking turns throwing and trimming.

Follow your own ideas or draw inspiration from prompts and demonstrations as you create cups, bowls, vases, planters, and more. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience. Your finished pieces will be ready to collect 8-10 weeks later.

This is a four-week course running on Tuesday evenings from 17:30-20:00, with each 2.5-hour session giving you plenty of time to develop your skills across the four weeks. Sessions for this course take place on:

Join us for a relaxed and social evening of ceramic painting at Make Space Studio! This is the perfect way to unwind, get creative, and spend time with fellow makers.

You’ll have the chance to experiment with a range of professional-quality materials, including Speedball underglazes with an acrylic-like feel, watercolour-style underglazes for a more painterly effect, underglaze pencils and fine liners for intricate detail, and a variety of glazes to layer and play with — including speckle and crackle effects.

Have unglazed pieces from a previous pottery course at Make Space that are still waiting to be finished? This is your chance to glaze them in good company. New to ceramic painting? No experience necessary, everyone is welcome!

There’s something about sunlight coming through pieced fabric, little panes of colour glowing like stained glass, changing with the light through the day. That’s the idea behind this workshop, inspired by Bojagi, the traditional Korean patchwork art.

We’ll start by digging through the studio’s fabric stash (there’s a lot to choose from) and picking out a palette that feels right to you. We recommend focusing on neutral colours to ensure a light and airy result, choosing 1-3 accent colors to add interest.

From there you’ll sketch a rough design, then get stuck into piecing your fabric together and building patchwork blocks, section by section. If you prefer to work spontaneously and intuitively with the fabrics then that’s a perfectly valid approach too.

We’ll learn how to finish and press your seams as you go. You can zip through them on the overlocker, or if you want to try it the traditional way then I can teach you fully-enclosed seams too. It’s more time consuming but gives a beautiful finish.

By the end of the class you’ll walk away with a finished wall-hanging, and all the skills to keep building. If you’re dreaming bigger — a full curtain, say — you’re welcome to take your fabric home and keep going, or come back during open studio hours to finish up.

Come and work on whatever you like: your sketchbook practice, a painting in progress, a sewing project or have a play with clay. The space is yours. Bring your favourite materials or a selection of studio supplies are available if you need them.

Just turn up, make things, pay for how long you stay.
