There’s something about sunlight coming through pieced fabric — little panes of colour glowing like stained glass, changing with the light through the day. That’s the idea behind this workshop, inspired by Bojagi, the traditional Korean art of pieced wrapping cloth.
We’ll start by digging through the studio’s fabric stash (there’s a lot to choose from) and picking out a palette that feels right to you. From there you’ll sketch a rough design, then get stuck into piecing your fabric together section by section — learning to finish and press your seams as you go.
You can zip through your seams on the overlocker, or if you want to try it the traditional way with a fully enclosed French seam (no raw edges, ever), I’ll teach you that too — it just takes a little longer.
By the end of the class you’ll walk away with a finished wall-hanging or baby-quilt-sized piece, and all the skills to keep building. If you’re dreaming bigger — a full curtain, say — you’re welcome to take your fabric home and keep going, or come back during open studio hours to finish up.
