Pottery Wheel-Throwing

Choose between a one-off taster session or a longer course that lets you build skills step by step.

In the 2.5-hour taster workshop, you’ll jump straight onto the wheel and start making. You’ll practise the core movements of throwing, play with small forms, and get a feel for how clay moves and responds.

Expect a few wobbles, a few wins, and plenty of hands-on time. At the end, you’ll choose your favourite three pieces to be glazed and fired for you, ready to collect around 6–8 weeks later.

The longer course is a chance to really settle into the process. Over several weekly sessions, you’ll work through the full journey of a piece, from wedging clay and throwing on the wheel to trimming, glazing, and preparing work for firing.

As skills develop, there’s room to explore a wider range of forms and more involved techniques, such as working with larger amounts of clay or adding details like handles. Along the way, you’ll use a variety of tools and see how each stage connects.

Both options are designed to give you time on the wheel, space to practise, and a supportive atmosphere.

Start messy. Learn by doing. Keep making.
