This workshop introduces improv quilting as an open, intuitive way of working with fabric. You can begin with simple, graphic shapes, which offer an easy entry point and help build confidence quickly. As you grow more comfortable, there’s room to explore curved seams, more organic forms, and techniques such as appliqué and surface embellishment. Improv quilting is open-ended by nature, and you’re encouraged to respond to the fabric, adjust as you go, and follow what feels interesting in the moment.

In a one-off taster workshop, you’ll complete a small project, giving you a feel for the process and core techniques. In a longer workshop, there’s time to develop a larger piece, like a wall hanging or a small baby quilt, allowing ideas and skills to build over several sessions.

If you’d like to continue working on a larger or more ambitious project, our freestyle sewing class offers ongoing studio time to keep developing your work at your own pace, with support available when needed. Book into our Open Studio Sessions here.

Start simple. Follow the fabric. Let it evolve.
